DEREK MONKS - OPERATIONS MANAGER (KUNUNURRA)

Derek brings a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Environmental Geography to his role, as well as a diverse work background and a sound knowledge of the region, its people and environment. He has lived in Kununurra for 4 years and was a member of the CALM cane toad team before joining the Foundation.

Derek has long been a member of local conservation group SEEKS - one of the first groups to recognise the threat of cane toads to WA and a founding member of the STT Foundation.

Just as the seasons present a challenge to people in the field, so they present challenges to the cane toads. Exploiting the toad’s weaknesses in this tough country will hold the key to the battle ahead. Derek's job is to bring our strategies to life; getting the right people in the right place with the right equipment.
