GRAEME SAWYER - REGIONAL COORDINATOR (DARWIN)
Graeme played a key role in setting up FrogWatch in the Northern
Territory in 1991 and led their cane toad project - the catalyst
for a change of thinking about cane toad control in Northern Australia.
He has been involved in cane toad research, including pioneering
work on the use of traps, for more than 5 years and was a member
of the National Cane Toad Taskforce.
He has been a central figure in Frogwatch’s planning and
implementation of public awareness and education campaigns in relation
to frogs and cane toads in the north. He has worked on national
projects such as the WWF/ Rio Tinto frogs programme, and was the
NT coordinator of FrogZone.
Graeme has a long history of working with community groups and
education groups in relation to environmental education, delivering
workshops and events across the Northern Territory and the Kimberley
region of WA.
He has worked with Landcare and natural resource managers from
councils and communities in relation to cane toad issues, presented
at national environmental education conferences and conducted environmental
education seminars for teachers and rangers.
Graeme directs on-ground operations for the Stop The Toad Foundation.
