STTF Board Chair
KIM HANDS
Kim joined the Stop the Toad Foundation as Strategic Campaign Manager
in May 2008.
Kim studied a Bachelor of Science at Murdoch University in conservation
and marine biology. She has a strong environmental science and interpretation
background developed while working at AQWA (the Western Australian
aquarium) and with the Australian Wildlife Conservancy at the Mornington
Wildlife Sanctuary.
Kim has successfully motivated others to conserve the natural environment
through innovative public presentations, leading volunteer groups
and through involvement in various environmental campaigns. Her
enthusiasm and passion for the environment is contagious.
Kim has worked and lived in the Kimberley and although she has
traveled extensively, the Kimberley is where her heart lies. She
is dedicated to protecting the biodiversity of Australia’s
last remaining wilderness by keeping WA cane toad free!
Kim has successfully coordinated the 2008, 2009 and 2010 Great
Toad Musters. She also coordinated the Emma
Gorge toad fence project at El Questro Wilderness Park in 2011
and 2012. Through her work with the Foundation, Kim was awarded
the Australian Geographic Society's 'Young Conservationist of the
Year' and placed on the WA Conservation Council's Honour Roll in
2012. She was also the winner in the WA environment category for
the Pride of Australia medals.
Kim left staff in August 2012 and was elected Chair of the Board
in November 2012. She looks forward to using her experience with
the Foundation to help continue the objectives of Stop the Toad.
