LUC LONGLEY - VICE-CHAIR
Luc Longley played basketball in the USA for 14 years and was the
first Australian ever to play professional basketball in the NBA.
He was a member of the all-conquering Chicago Bulls team that won
three consecutive championships from 1995-96 to 1997-98. Luc also
represented Australia three times in the Olympics. He's one of our
most successful sporting exports and has been the chairman of Heathway
since 2003.
Returning to his home town of Perth in 2001 Luc quickly developed
a reputation as a responsible corporate citizen, giving a great
deal back to the state that he was raised in. He is a major shareholder
and founding investor in Fiona Wood’s Clinical Cell Culture,
a biomedical company that produces treatments for burns victims.
Luc’s time in the United States reinforced his commitment
to the Western Australian environment. Luc said, “I had a
great life in the US, but I was also very aware that their environment
has been heavily impacted. One of the reasons that I chose to come
back to WA was the environment.”
This commitment to WA’s unique environment has seen Luc has
help to conserve its heritage, to assist to protect the old growth
and high conservation value forests of the South West, putting his
name to the Save the Forests campaign and being patron of Denmark
Conservation Appeal. In addition, Luc threw his support behind the
Save Ningaloo Campaign, which exemplified the power of community.
