How to get
involved in direct on-ground action to
STOP THE TOAD
The Stop the Toad Foundation (STTF) encourages and supports
activities that will directly prevent the movement of cane
toads across the NT towards WA.
You may be already going bush to do the things you like to
do – 4WDing, fishing, camping, kayaking, bushwalking.
Why not add to that stopping toads?
Or maybe you’re prepared to go bush especially to help.
Either way, the STTF wants to help you to Stop The Toad.
It’s a big country and
we need to get people experienced in remote terrain out there
to:
- define exactly where the toads are between the Victoria
River and the WA border, and
- dispose of them to reduce numbers wherever and whenever
we can
There are water holes and billabongs that need monitoring,
traps that need placing and checking, toad proof fences that
need erecting and checking.
It’s a cane toad WAR in which we ALL have a part to
play. And you will be at the front line!
If you want to plan a trip
then the STTF can:
- Help you find a vital role to play in the cane toad battle,
- Provide equipment and know-how to catch and dispose of
toads,
- Provide safety equipment like EPIRB’s, GPS’s
and Satellite Phones,
- Provide insurance and arrange permissions from land owners,
and
And in return the STTF will
ask simply that:
- your plan fits with our plan,
- you stick to your plan,
- you play it SAFE,
- you report how you went.
