Barwick Estates supports the Stop the Toad Foundation
Barwick Estates is proud to be supporting the Stop the Toad Foundation

exhibition hosted by Stop the Toad Foundation patron Tim Winton.
The exhibition took place at Challen & Rafferty fine art gallery,
Subiaco.

Seventy years after their release in the canefields of Queensland,
cane toads have spread westward across tropical Australia at an
alarming rate and are now less than 200km from the WA border. CSIRO
projections suggest that cane toads could eventually spread right
through WA. Every wetland, golf course and backyard from Kununurra
to Esperance will make suitable habitat. We are all facing the prospect
of living under a new kind of occupation.
With large areas of wetlands on their Margaret River winery &
vineyard, Barwick Estates are well aware of the impact such an invasion
could have on the natural habitat & fauna on their property.
We were delighted to have the opportunity to support such a worthwhile
cause and will giving a donation to the Stop the Toad Foundation
for every bottle of wine sold.
The Stop the Toad Foundation has been established to promote the
benefits of a cane toad free WA and to encourage everyone to help.
It will deploy trapping, monitoring and hand-capture operations
in cooperation with CALM and offers to equip and train the community
to contribute to the on-ground effort.
This is a massive undertaking in every sense. But it is a project
that promises to unite people from every aspect of our community.
For when it comes to defending country and heritage we are convinced
that Western Australians will rise to the challenge.
