On-ground Coordinator - Stop The Toad Foundation (Inc.)
Equiv. to PS L3. Salary in the $44,000 range (plus super).

Are you a hands-on coordinator with excellent people, practical and community liaison skills?

Are you prepared to undertake planning/admin/organisation tasks as well as practical field work, sometimes in isolated/remote locations?

If yes, you will be based in Kununurra, supporting and fostering local initiatives to prevent the spread of cane toads from the NT to WA.

POSITION DESCRIPTION - STOP THE TOAD FOUNDATION (INC.)

Position Title: On-ground Coordinator – Community cane toad project
Level: Equivalent to public service Level 3, year 1 level.
Salary: $44,500 plus superannuation. A housing subsidy may be available for applicants who quality for this subsidy.
Direct Reporting: Coordinator - Stop the Toad Foundation
Location: Kununurra

Position Summary

Work closely with community groups, indigenous groups, CALM and all levels of government to coordinate/manage the on-ground operations of the community based Stop The Toad initiative to prevent the spread of cane toads from the Northern Territory to Western Australia.

Key Accountabilities
Regulatory / Liaison
  • Develop relationships with community groups and assist them to access ‘Stop the Toad’ funds consistent with the STT operating strategy and the funding model guidelines.
  • Work constructively with a range of stakeholders (government, indigenous groups, community organisations, management committee, land owners etc). Liaise with CALM’s Cane Toad Project Manager to ensure community actions complement those undertaken by the State Government.
  • Liaise with all relevant land owners to obtain permission to enter their lands and undertake cane toad control operations
  • Ensure community activities comply with WA & NT legislation including obtaining all appropriate permits.
Administrative / Financial / Coordination
  • Undertake the management and coordination of assets (equipment, vehicles, traps etc).
  • Produce reports, information leaflets or similar to management committee, community groups and others as required.
  • Meet the requirements and objectives of STT operating strategies, policies and funding model guidelines.
Supervision of staff and volunteers
  • Ensure minimum standards of safety are met by all volunteers and staff undertaking field operations.
  • Manage volunteers and/or staff to deliver on-ground and support outcomes.
Field Work
  • Oversee the various strategies under the STT operating strategy and undertake field work as required.
