its coldest temperature ever – minus 0.7 degrees.

Two hours later, in a slowly warming sunshine,
the intrepid began to gather at Alexander Library for the
2nd Perth Cane Toad Forum. |
The crowd was welcomed by Tim
Winton. |
The event was officially opened by the WA Minister for
the Environment, the Hon. Mark McGowan. |

Presentations then led off with Jen Francis from the Kununurra
toad team speaking on CALM activity. |
She was followed by Sandy Boulter reflecting on Kimberley
Toadbuster's activity from their first toadbust in Sept 2005
to present. |

Regional Coordinator Graeme Sawyer spoke on
behalf of the STTF, outlining their dry
season strategy. |
|
Alex Hyde from CSIRO provided an overview of the search
for biological controls. |
A few short announcements were made and then Tim Winton
presented Greg Hunt a GOLDEN TOAD AWARD. Greg has been the
volunteer coordinator of the STTF school trap-building program
since he turned up at the first Cane Toad Forum in June 2005.
